Copper Thief Is Captured

Dustin Meeks, 39 years old, from Monticello, was arrested on June 30 in Newton County by the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and Crime Suppression Unit and charged with Theft by Taking for a currently active investigation into the theft of copper wire. This investigation is still on-going and more arrests/charges are to follow.

In addition, investigators were able to track down an individual who passed a $100 counterfeit bill at a business in Monticello. He has been arrested in North Carolina.

•Sally Gwendolyn Goen, 25, Monticello—Failure to Appear for a Fingerprintable Charge; Purchase/Possession/Manufacture/Distribution/ or Sale of Marijuana; Possession of Drug Related Objects; Reckless Conduct

•Victoria Jean Brown, 49, Monticello—Possession of Methamphetamine; Possession and Use of Drug Related Objects
