Beware of Scams Concerning Warrants

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous calls about scams being perpetrated on local citizens.

The citizen receives a phone call saying there is an outstanding warrant for their arrest, then tries to get the person to respond. The sheriff’s office warns people not to fall for the scam. If you receive a call, claiming to be from law enforcement, they recommend you hang up and call the sheriff’s office at 706-468-4912 and inquire.

Other than that, it was a fairly quiet week for law enforcement with few arrests, and few accidents.

Jonathan Keith Nipper, 58, Covington—Operating a Watercraft under the Influence of Alcohol, Drugs or Toxicants

Jonathan Andrew Hix Sr, 61, Monticello—Theft of Services; Criminal Trespass
