Jubilee Plans Are Under Way

The Jasper County Historical Foundation hosted its regular monthly member meeting Thursday, Feb. 13 at Thomas Persons Hall.

President Ken Horton welcomed attendees, and announced upcoming events to be hosted at the facility. Scheduled programming for this year currently includes the Student Talent Showcase, to be held next month, and they are excited to host the event in partnership with the school system.

There is also a Vintage Vixens concert scheduled for April 5. Mr. Horton also announced the current partnership with Bridging Monticello, a civic organization looking revive the unity and fellowship of the county.

This month’s featured presenters were members from Bridging Monticello, Jenny Murphy and Holly Tinney, with member Melissa Watson in attendance. A small crowd gathered to hear the past, present and future of the Jasper Jubilee.

Crowd members had the opportunity to share their memories of past events and to ask questions regarding events and participation for this year. Events from the past were reminisced, and plans for this year’s Jubilee were shared with attendees.

Those events include an initial know-your-neighbor style meet & greet event planned for March 14 at Thomas Persons Hall, with a week of events planned for April 12 – 19 of this year. Scheduled events include a Tour of Homes and Monticello Garden Club Annual Flower Show, a community picnic, virtual scavenger hunt, specials from participating restaurants, a fashion show and headwear contest, music BINGO and a day of downtown fun with vendors and entertainment.
