JCMS Soccer Opens New Season

The Jasper County Middle School girls and boys soccer teams competed in the Tournament of the Roses in Jones County Saturday against teams from Georgia Military and Jones County. Both teams had a good showing in the preseason tournament and placed second overall.

Results for the preseason event were the girls falling 0-2 to GMC and winning 1-0 over Jones with a goal by Aylin Sanchez

The boys defeated GMC 4-0 with goals by Nikita Bugera, Tatum White, Edwin Bautista and Logan Finch. They fell to Jones- 0-1.

The teams opened the regular season against Henderson. The girls were able to continue their winning ways, taking a 2-0 win over the Lady Tigers, with goals by Emersyn Hoffman and Amberly Williams.

The boys team did not fare as well against the Tigers, falling by an 8-0 margin in rough conditions, even for soccer, with rain, wind, and a biting cold in the air.

The JCMS teams will host Upson Lee on Feb. 26. The girls play at 5, followed by the boys. Tickets are $5 on GoFans.
