County Reverses Its Action, Cancels Moratorium

The Jasper County Commissioners met briefly Wednesday, Feb. 5, taking only one action.

After some discussion, they voted to dissolve the moratorium on non-conforming lots development. The motion was made by District 5 Commissioner Steven Ledford and seconded by District 1 Commissioner Shelia Pounds.

It reverses action taken Monday, Feb. 3 which put a moratorium on building on all non-conforming lots.

Since the county has changed the zoning throughout the county requiring larger lots and more road frontage, many lots of record are non-conforming. The problem arose soon after the action was taken.
