TWO WRECKS

There were two accidents last Friday afternoon on Hwy. 16 east near Bullard Road at shortly after 5 p.m. during a torrential downpour. An officer with the Georgia State Patrol worked both accidents, however, only one accident report was ready Wednesday morning. In the photo above, the front vehicle in the ditch was driven by Melissa Lentini of Monticello and both Mrs. Lentini and a child in the vehicle were injured. Mrs. Lentini told the newspaper representative that she hydroplaned. That report was not ready. In the other accident, Brittney Cherie Vinson of Monticello was traveling west on Hwy. 16 when she stopped in the roadway as the other car was running off the road. Soon after, another vehicle came upon Ms. Vinson’s which was stopped in the road and hit her. That vehicle was a 2001 Ford F-550 driven by Ashton Jayden Jones of Eatonton. Both vehicles left the roadway. They each came to a final rest facing west in the north ditch. There were no injuries in that accident.
