Magistrate Court Reviews Cases
Newly elected Magistrate Court Judge Chrissy Mason reviewed and ruled on the civil calendar last Friday. The court reviewed six dispossessory cases with the following results.
Ben Rivers vs. Takilia Standifer—a consent judgement for $2,280. A writ will not be issued if the fine is paid by January 31, 2025.
Joshua Roberts vs. Austin McPherson—dismissed for lack of want of prosecution. There was no writ and monetary judgement and the counterclaim was dismissed.
Molly Harp vs. James Howard—consent judgement for $76 with a writ issued for January 31, 2025.
Monticello Housing Authority vs. Marcia Slocumb and all other occupants. The case is under advisement and the judge will prepare the order.
Kenyota Cunningham vs. Amanda Lewis—fined $2,089 and ordered to pay $76 court cost with a writ issued for January 31, 2025.
Debra Standifer vs. Brandi Bostic was dismissed.
Also, there was one criminal case—State of Georgia vs. Robert Allen with counts of discharging a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, aggravated assault, and discharge of gun/pistol near public highway/street. A continuance order was granted for that case.
The next arraignment date for Magistrate Court will be conducted Friday, Feb. 7. The next trial date will be Friday, Feb. 21. Both are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. in the Magistrate Court on the second floor.
