Cougars Boys Fall
It was a tough trip to John Milledge Academy last Friday for Piedmont Academy’s varsity boys basketball team.
The Cougars fell 54-27 to the host Trojans and continue to look to secure their first region win for 2024-25.
“We went on the road last Friday night and lost to JMA who played extremely hard and were well coached,” said Coach Christian Palmer. “Coach Mitch Risley does a great job with his team and they will be a team to watch the rest of this season and in the years to come.”
It is important for the Cougars to learn from the game, their coach said.
“For us, we understand how hard it is to win in this region but it is even harder to go on the road and beat any team in the region,” Palmer said. “The one emphasis for us is making sure we pack our defense and toughness every road game. Sometimes offense doesn’t travel, but we always want to make sure that defensively we are always playing to our standard home or away.”
With winter weather this week, the upcoming schedule will have several games in a short span.
“We get to put that to the test this week as we go on the road Saturday to play Mount De Sales Academy right after hosting Tattnall Square Academy Friday night,” Palmer said.
“Tattnall is an extremely talented group that we look forward to competing against on Friday and Saturday will be our first of two games with Mount De Sales.”
