Business & Citizen of the Year Nominees Announced
Each year, the Business and Citizen of the Year contest is hosted by the Chamber of Commerce. The deadline for nominations was December 31, 2024. Eleven citizens and three businesses were nominated for these awards.
These are the first few nominations for Citizen of the Year, and the remaining nominations, as well as Business nominations will be announced in the coming weeks leading up to the Annual Membership Meeting & Dinner.
Katherine Mudd, owner of The Monticello News, exemplifies outstanding community leadership and dedication, making her an ideal candidate for Citizen of the Year. Under her stewardship, the newspaper has become a vital source of information and a platform for local voices, fostering transparency and engagement within our community.
“Kathy” actively supports local initiatives, champions local businesses, and consistently highlights the achievements and stories of Jasper County residents. Her unwavering commitment to uplifting our community through journalism and advocacy embodies the spirit of service and connection that this award seeks to honor.
Tammy Williams, founder of Better Together, has made an indelible impact on our community as a tireless advocate for families with special needs children. Through her compassionate leadership, she has created a supportive environment where families can share experiences, access resources, and find strength in one another.
Tammy’s dedication to raising awareness and organizing inclusive events has not only empowered numerous families but also fostered a sense of belonging and hope. Her selfless commitment to improving the lives of those around her truly embodies the spirit of the Citizen of the Year award, making her a deserving nominee.
Ashley Clegg exemplifies the spirit of service and community engagement, making her a deserving nominee for Citizen of the Year. As a dedicated coach for both Jasper County School System but also the Jasper County Recreation Department, she inspires young athletes to strive for excellence while fostering teamwork and resilience.
Beyond her coaching role, Ashley founded a charity that brings joy to families in need by providing Christmas presents, ensuring that the holiday spirit reaches those who might otherwise go without. Her unwavering commitment to uplifting others and her ability to unite the community around a common cause demonstrate her exceptional leadership and compassion, truly embodying the essence of this prestigious award.
Phillip Jordan, owner of Jordan Funeral Home, has been a pillar of support and compassion in our community, making him an exemplary nominee for Citizen of the Year. With a deep commitment to serving families during their most difficult times, Phillip provides not only professional funeral services but also a comforting presence that helps guide individuals through grief. Phillip’s unwavering compassion and service to others truly exemplify the values of empathy and community spirit, making a lasting impact on all who know him.
