Cougars Continue Working to Improve
It’s been a tough season at times for the Piedmont Academy varsity boys basketball team but the Cougars are making steady progress in many areas.
First-year coach Christian Palmer said the team is benefiting from sound play from multiple players.
The Cougars fell to Central Fellowship 62-37 on Friday at home before dropping a 61-44 road game against Augusta Prep on Saturday.
In Saturday’s game, Chase Taylor scored 15 points and had seven rebounds. Tyler Griswell added 10 points and five boards.
Junior Hunter Thomson also played well, his coach said, wit seven points, five rebounds and three assists.
Piedmont entered region play Tuesday against Tattnall Square Academy on the road in Macon. The Cougars fell 79-43.
Region foes this season for the Cougars will be Tattnall, Mount de Sales, Stratford, John Milledge and First Presbyterian.
Piedmont will have a busy three-day stretch starting today, Jan 9 against St. George’s at home at 7 p.m. The Cougars will then host Mount de Sales on Friday at 7:30 p.m. before traveling to Westfield in Perry on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
The team will then travel to St. George’s on Tuesday for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
