PA, Westfield Split Action

The Piedmont Academy varsity basketball teams returned to action Tuesday with home games against Westfield.

The Lady Cougars took a competitive 49-40 victory while the boys fell 75-72.

Kylee Keck (18), Marissa Holder (16) and Sarah Ellen Stroud (10) each finished in double digits for the Piedmont girls, who are now 3-1.

Emily Whitwell added three points and Taylor Jenkins finished with two.

The Lady Cougars led 10-6 after the first quarter and 24-12 at halftime. Westfield battled back in the second half but fell short.

Piedmont’s boys played their best game of the young season as Corbett Crews scored 21 points with four rebounds and Chase Taylor added 20 points, six rebounds and four assists. Camden Moss finished with seven while Bryson Dudley and Ethan Barman both scored six. Kohen Burrell added five points.

For the season senior Taylor, is averaging 13.3 points per game with three rebounds and two assists. Sophomore Crews is averaging 12 points and six boards.

Piedmont will host Gatewood Friday at 6 p.m.
