Mat Cougars Shine Early in Season
Piedmont Academy’s varsity wrestlers had a strong showing in a tri-meet against Ace Academy and Georgia Military recently.
The Mat Cougars won both matches despite missing several wrestlers. Piedmont defeated Ace 48-18 and GMC 40-24.
Several wrestlers went 2-0 including Austin Anglin (113), Caleb Benton (144), Colt Leddon (150), Jamus Wingate (175), Trenton Jones (190) and Braxton Floyd (215 and 285).
Daniel Joseph was 1-0 at 165 while Dylan Brimberry was 1-0 at 215.
The Middle School Cougars also had a strong showing with Kyle Anglin (95) and Peyton Gallups (120) both winning their two matches.
Piedmont also competed at a tournament hosted by Putnam County with several wrestlers earning top finishes.
Benton (144), Leddon (150) and Wingate (165) each won their respective weight class while Jones (190) was runner-up. Brimberry took third place at 190 and Austin Anglin (113) was fifth.
