The 2024-25 basketball season tipped off with an electrifying clash as the Clark County Indians traveled to face the Scotland County Tigers on Tuesday, November 26. The game delivered a rollercoaster of momentum shifts and standout performances, culminating in a nail-biting 53-51 victory for the Indians.
Clark County burst out of the gate with senior Harrison Parker leading the charge, scoring the team’s first nine points and helping the Indians establish a commanding 15-2 lead midway through the first quarter. The Indians maintained control as Austin Day closed the quarter with a steal and layup, leaving the Indians ahead 19-8.
The second quarter, however, turned the tide in favor of Scotland County. With Parker sidelined by foul trouble, Clark County’s offense stalled, managing just six points. Meanwhile, the Tigers caught fire, with four players contributing a combined 23 points. By halftime, Scotland County had seized a 31-25 advantage, flipping the script.
Coming out of the break, Clark County regrouped, tightening their defense and outscoring the Tigers 12-5 in the third quarter to reclaim a slim one-point lead.
The fourth quarter brought intense drama as Scotland County relied on free throws, converting 9 of 14 attempts, but struggled from the floor, hitting just three field goals. Parker rose to the occasion for the Indians, scoring 10 points in the final period, including a perfect 4-for-4 at the line, to seal the win.
Parker was the game’s standout, finishing with 29 points and delivering clutch performances when it mattered most. Teammates Chayse Webster (8 points) and Isaiah Hardin (6 points) provided additional support, while Grayden Kleine, Corrick Hunziker, and Austin Day chipped in a combined 10 points.
For the Tigers, Vince Dale led the scoring effort with 16 points, including an impressive 8 from the line. Tayte Richmond added 10 points, and Levi Stott, Carter Clatt, and Braylon Campbell each contributed six. Layne Stott rounded out the effort with four points.
