Elections Board Changes Meeting

The county Board of Elections and Registration met Tuesday and agreed to change its regular meeting to the third Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m.

Member Mark Logan brought up the topic of election facilities, expressing concern about the Martin and Burney precinct and the Courthouse precinct. He mentioned the gravel voters have to walk on at Martin and Burney and expressed concern about with several issues at the Courhouse. There was also talk of reducing the voting precincts to one.

The board went into closed session to discuss extending the employment of the registrar and assistant registrar, but made no vote upon exiting the closed session.

Chairman Guy Tucker expressed appreciation for the smooth execution of the recent election and commended all involved for their hard work and success.

The election board was formed after legislation was passed removing the county Probate Judge from handling elections. The new board, just named two months ago, will be in charge of all future elections. Member of the board are Mr. Tucker, chairman; Mr. Logan, vice-chair; and David McGuire. The next meeting is Tuesday, Dec. 17.
