Marcia Ann Long

Marcia Ann Long, age 83, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

She was the daughter of the late Paul Raymond and Marcella Moffett Smith. Marcia was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44-years, Vernon L. Long.

Born with a spirit for adventure, Marcia enjoyed traveling and created many cherished memories with her family. She was an avid tennis player and loved spending sunny afternoons on the court. A frequent visitor to Las Vegas, Marcia, found joy in the thrill of playing the penny slots.

Later in life, Marcia became a passionate supporter of the Georgia Bulldogs and, in her earlier years, cheered for the Atlanta Braves. Above all, Marcia had a special fondness for Elvis, whose music always brought a smile to her face.

Marcia is remembered for her warm heart, infectious laughter, and the love she shared with those around her. The times she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and the great grandchildren, were priceless to her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Marcia is survived by her daughter and favorite son-in-law, Michelle “Missy” and John Henderson of Monticello; her grandchildren and their spouses, Joe and Hunner Henderson of Monticello, Matt and Kaylin Henderson of Covington, Sara and Paul Green of Monticello, and Keeli and Tim Wright of Covington; her great-grandchildren, Lylith, Sheppard, Tristan, Logan, Lucas, Levi, Emily, Kayla, Wesley, and Wyatt; her brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Janet Smith of Ohio; nephew, Larry and Elaine Smith, niece, Linda and Roy Johnson; great nieces and great nephews; and her dog, Ollie.

A gathering of remembrance service for Marcia will be held on Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Wheeler Funeral and Cremation Services, with John Henderson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service.
