Players Do Well in Weekly Contest

The football contest proved pretty easy this week with numerous players making the honor roll.

Game No. 3, Thomas Jefferson at Gatewood was not played as Thomas Jefferson was in the path of Hurricane Helene, and was unable to make the trip, so game three did not count, making 14 the most anyone could get right, and three people got 13 right. Numerous others got 12 right, and those getting just 11 right still qualify for honor roll as the rules say you can’t miss more than three.

Despite numerous college upsets, apparently they did not make the contest last week, so many got all the college games right.

So, of the three people with 13 right, Chad Mobley was the closest on the tie-breaker, guessing 38 pionts would be scored in Monticello’s victory over McNair last Friday.

For his effort, Mr. Mobley sent his daughter, Bailey, to pick up the $25 prize from Robert Cumbie, administrator for Jasper Health Services/Primary Care Center.

The other two players to only miss one contest were Neil McElroy and Belle Perry. Then there were 10 who only missed two, and lots more who only missed three.

This week, players get another chance to show their football expertise, as they guess the winners of 15 games listed—high school, college and pro. They will collect a $25 prize from Jordan Engineering, sponsor of the week.

Anyone can play, but you must turn your entry in—by fax, email or in person no later than 5 p.m. Friday. Full rules are on page 10.
