Cases Are Settled in Magistrate Court

Jasper County Magistrate Court civil and criminal trials were conducted October 4 with the following sentences rendered:

During the criminal session, Paula Stinnett was cited for failure to provide humane care x 10, failure to vaccinate animal against rabies x 11, and cruelty to animals x 10. The defendant entered a guilty plea and was fined $700.

Chase McCullers was cited for three counts of violation of international property maintenance code (sanitation, rodent, and rubbish). The case is contunued until November 2024.

Dwayne Jones was cited for failure to provide humane care, failure to vaccinate animal against rabies x 3, and cruelty to animals x 2. He entered a not guilty plea with a trial scheduled for November 2024.

Garrett Kirksey was cited for failure to provide humane care x 6, failure to vaccinate animal against rabies x 3, and cruelty to animals x 3. He entered a guilty plea and was fined $2,700 and ordered on probation.

Jacklyn Travis had two counts of violation of international property maintenance code (exterior and sanitation), and solid waste disposal violation dismissed.

Civil cases resulted in Preppi Kitchens winning a dispossessory judgment against Terry Thompson for $750 with a writ issued effective October 11.

A default judgement was granted to Cavalry SPV in a breach of contract claim against Norris Goolsby.

A consent judgement was granted to LVNV Funding in a breach of contract claim against Faith Frazier.
