Volley Lady Cougars Play Well

The 2024 Piedmont Academy volleyball team has already enjoyed success on the court this season and is looking for more victories under first-year coach Maxie Maddox.

The Volley Cougars were 5-3 going into this week with wins against Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy, Young Americans, Gatewood, Jasper County and St. George’s.

Players on the varsity roster include Samantha Gray, Ansley Newton, Makenzie Cordell, Anslyn Burrell, Daylin Meadows, Bailey Bernard, Anna Petty, Taylor Jenkins, Maggie Davis, Presleigh Hartness and Morgan Hayes.

Maddox is in her first season as head coach after working with the program as an assistant.

“We are thrilled to have Coach Maddox directing our program,” said Piedmont Athletic Director Danny Camp.

Piedmont will host Tattnall Square Academy Thursday (today) in a 5:30 p.m. region match. The Volley Cougars will then travel to Stratford Academy on Monday, Sept. 9 for a 6:30 p.m. region contest.
