Michael Scott Kelly

Michael Scott Kelly, 61, of Monticello, went to be with the Lord on July 22, 2024. Scott was born on October 14, 1962 to James Roy Kelly and Marsha Polk Kelly in Monticello.

Scott attended Piedmont Academy in Monticello where he helped lead the high school’s football and baseball teams to multiple victories. He graduated from Piedmont in 1982 and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Georgia College in Milledgeville.

While at Georgia College he helped found the school water skiing team. Scott enjoyed many activities and hobbies including water skiing, biking, hunting, woodworking, traveling, and animals.

Scott was proud to serve with the United States Postal Service during the early part of his career. He then moved into sales. Most of his career was spent in the pharmaceutical industry representing companies SmithKline Beecham, Hoffmann-La-Roche, and Genentech. Scott earned many distinctions and top salesman awards.

Scott is survived by his parents, Jim and Marsha, daughters, Emmie Kelly and Parker Whitaker (Barrett), granddaughters Kelly Anne Powell and Chandler Whitaker, siblings Chris Kelly, Brian Kelly, and Amy Cansino (Carl), as well as nieces Cami Kelly, and Sophia Cansino, and nephews Lane Kelly, Mason Kelly (Madi), and Bryce Cansino.

A celebration of life for Scott will be held in Mansfield, at Vintage on 1st on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Jasper County Animal Shelter.

Scott truly loved being with his family and friends and always greeted everyone with a smile. He will be missed.
