Mrs. Mamie Lee Goolsby
A celebration of life for Mrs. Mamie Lee Goolsby was held Monday, July 15, 2024 at Concord Primitive Baptist Church, 475 Concord Church Road, in Monticello. Elder Frank Dixon, pastor/eulogist.
Mrs. Mamie Lee Goolsby, known to many as “Honey” was born April 16, 1951, in Jasper County to the late Louis Carter and Laura J. Catchings.
The Lord called her to his everlasting home early Sunday morning, July 7, 2024.
Mamie was a caregiver and worked for Bibb County School System for over 30 years as a nutritionist. She married at an early age and then moved to Macon.. Up until her final moments, Mamie served as the Mother to Concord Primitive Baptist Church faithfully over 45 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Van Goolsby, Sr.; brother, Walter “Boosie” Carter; three sons, Henry V. Goolsby, Jr., Rodney Goolsby and Keith Carter.
The most beautiful memories of Mamie will be cherished by her daughters: Teresa Goolsby (Mceric), Tomeca Goolsby both of Macon, and Cassandra Pennamon of Monticello; son, Frederick Carter (Annie Jean) of Macon; three sisters: Gloria Williams, Mary Sue Carter and Janice Maddox (Earnest), all of Monticello; 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Also a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
