D. McGuire Seeks Seat

David McGuire has qualified as a Democrat for the District 1 County Commission seat. He submitted the following announcement to the newspaper:

As a born and raised 8th generational native of Jasper County, I have had the privilege and honor to have been educated, reared, and prospered in the best rural community in central Georgia. I deeply value and cherish all of the aspects, privileges, and opportunities that have been afforded to me.

As time passes and torches of leadership are handed down, it becomes a vital part of all our lives on who should lead a community on continuou opportunities and prosperity.

Therefore, I am seeking the office of County Commissioner of District 1.

In today’s 21st Century with the most advanced technology and innovation, it becomes a challenge for many rural communities to maintain its agrarian character, while also allowing and providing the resources of modern times to its citizens. I believe that it is very crucial for every citizen to be involved, educated and strongly informed within their community for its success.

I believe that I can be an asset to the Board of Commissioners because I have been a part in several aspects within the county. I am currently an active serving member of the Jasper County Planning and Zoning Commission, and Election Manager of the Monticello Precinct. I am currently employed at the new local industry Water, Wind, and Soil as night shift supervisor. I have worked as a substitute teacher for the school system of Jasper County, as well as the Jasper County Senior Center.

My vision for Jasper County is to continue supporting efforts to increase local jobs, creating a strong workforce opportunity. I would like to be a participant of effective solutions. I have an eminent desire to be a good steward of our taxes by being resourceful as well as responsible. I plan to be a part of the solution as I serve on the Board of Commissioners by working with the other commissioners as we represent our citizens.

I will put forth a great effort in community input so that sound, intelligent, and achievable decisions are made for the betterment of our county. I know that when there is united leadership with a realistic vision, we can achieve our goals.

I am asking for all of the eligible voters in District 1 to give me the opportunity to serve you by voting and supporting me. As we face many changes, challenges and issues, we must all make necessary decisions for the vitality and sustainability of our community.
