MS Mat Cougars Start Season Strong

It was a successful start for the Piedmont Academy Middle School wrestling team last week.
The Mat Cougars hosted a series of exhibition matches against several opponents including Henderson Middle School, Rock Spring and Jones County Middle School.
Overall, the Middle School Mat Cougar wrestlers went 26-16.
“All of our wrestlers made a strong showing and we are proud of each member of our team,” coaches said.
Levi Harmon and Ta’zarya Lindsey helped pace the team with 3-0 marks. Going 2-0 in their respective matches were Nolan Oberst, Kyle Anglin, Carson West and Austin Anglin.
Maddelyn Norton, Wyatt Batchlor, Wyatt Nordstorm, Jameson Carter, Aiden Luti, Peyton Gallups, McCoy Fleming, Mason Carroll, Jake Harmon and Rory Attaberry all added wins.
Mason Bernard and Walker Peden also gained valuable mat action.
Wrestlers Chase Cowan, Gabe Howell, Bentley Oberst and Brody Plunkett were unable to wrestle due to injury but they were at the matches encouraging their teammates.
Lindsey and Norton are among the first female wrestlers for Piedmont Academy and began their mat careers with multiple victories.
