Clarice Phillips

A celebration of life for Mrs. Clarice Phillips was to be held yesterday, July 5, 2023 at St. John CME Church in Monticello.

Mrs. Phillips died June 28, 2023.
Clarice Phillips was born on July 28, 1954 in Jasper County to the late Willie J. Standifer and Jannie Mae Battle.
She joined St. James A.M.E. Church at an early age. Clarice was affectionately known as “Weezie” wherever she went. She was employed by Georgia Pacific Corporation for 30 years, Jasper County School System as a bus driver for eight years and Family Dollar until her health began to fail. Clarice loved children, she was a dedicated youth softball coach along with her life time friend/sister, Mrs. Michelle Walker aka, “Sister Girl.”
Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, Jimmy Phillips and two sisters, Dollie Jane Goolsby and Lanette Ridley; and two brothers: Aaron and Erskin Standifer.
Clarice leaves to cherish her memories, her three daughters, Evangail Chatman, Kenna Jacobs, both of Monticello, and Felicia Phillips Thomas (James) of Oxford; two sisters, Dorothy Callaway (Melvin) of Covington, and Zena Robinson of Monticello; five brothers, Joseph Ridley of Monticello, Whichard Standifer of Monticello, Norman Standifer of Charlotte, N.C., Nathaniel Standifer of Colorado Springs, CO and Joel Standifer of Decatur. Her only living auntie, Gerri of Macon, GA. Also, left to cherish are nine grandchildren, one great grandchild and one God son, Brandon Manning with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and her dog, Missy.
