Cougar Tracksters Compete at Region

Piedmont Academy’s track athletes took part in the region meet last week in Eatonton.

Several athletes had standout performances at the GIAA Region 4-AA event hosted by Gatewood.

For the Lady Cougars, Marissa Holder was second in the shot put (31-04) and third in the discus (84-08).

Also competing for the Piedmont girls were:

•Teagan Hinson, eighth, 400-meter dash, 1:13.11

•Ella Parker, 10th, shot put, 24-04.25

•Emily Whitwell, 11th, 100-meter dash, 15.37

•Kammie Gibby, 11th, 800-meter run, 3:14.78

•Whitwell, 11th, long jump, 13-08.25

•Abby Arnold, 13th, 200-meter dash, 33.37

•Parker, 15th, discus, 46-08

•Taylor Jenkins, 15th, long jump, 9-11.75

For the Piedmont boys, Spencer Carter was region champion in the high jump at 12-0. Keith Hasker was third in the triple jump with a mark of 39-07.

Michael Joseph took third place in the 100-meter dash in 11.60. Carter was also fourth in the triple jump at 38-01.5.

Other top performers included:

•4×100-meter relay team, fifth, 46.96

•4×400-meter relay team, fifth, 4:12.50

•4×800-meter relay team, fifth, 10:53.47

•Adarius Fuller, seventh, 110-meter hurdles, 20.42

•Hunter Thomson, seventh, 1,600-meter run, 5:59.86

•Landon Cain, eighth, long jump. 18.05

•Weston Webb, ninth, 400-meter run, 1:00.80

•Patrick Meadows, 10th, 1,600-meter run, 6:53.92

•Keith Hasker, 10th, 300-meter hurdles, 51.90

•Eli Parker, 11th, shot put, 32-11.75

•Tay Jones, 11th, long jump, 16-11.50

•Michael Burke, 13th, discus, 48-09

Other schools competing included Brentwood, Gatewood, Briarwood, Augusta Prep, John Hancock, Thomas Jefferson and Edmund Burke.
