‘Canes Open Region Play
The Monticello Hurricane baseball program opened up the region portion of its schedule taking on the Wolverines of Prince Avenue Christian, the #1 ranked team in the state in Class A, Division 1.
The Hurricanes opened up Monday on the road, falling 10-0 in six innings after holding Prince relatively close, only down 5-0 after five before the floodgates opened.
On Tuesday the Hurricanes hosted the Wolverines, and the number one team came out, scoring early and often to defeat the ‘Canes by a score of 17-1. The lone run for the Canes being scored by Chevy Sands after being driven on an error made on an Evan Diaz ground ball.
Last Friday the Hurricanes concluded the non-region portion of their schedule, traveling to Dublin to take on Trinity Christian. The Hurricanes struck early in picking up the win 7-3, more details in next week’s Monticello News.
