Piedmont Track Athletes Do Well

Piedmont Academy’s track athletes ventured to Gatewood once again for a multi-school event on March 29.

Several Cougars and Lady Cougars finished the day with standout performances in their respective events.

For the Lady Cougars, Marissa Holder won the shot put with a throw of 31.5. The sophomore also finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 77-11.5

The 4×800-meter relay team was third in 13:48.

Emily Whitwell earned fifth place in the long jump (14-02). Kylee Keck took seventh place in the high jump (4-04) while Teagan Hinson was seventh in the 400-meter dash (1:10.72).

For the Piedmont boys, Keith Hasker was first in the triple jump (38-02). Hudson Reed was second in the triple jump (37-09) and Spencer Carter was second in the high jump (5-11).

The 4×800-meter relay boys teams finished third in 10:59 while the 4×100-meter team was fourth in 46.48.

Colt Leddon was fourth in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12:54 and Patrick Meadows finished fourth in the 1,600-meter run in 7:00.

Landon Cain was fourth in the long jump (19-01.50) and Corbett Crews was fifth in the triple jump (32-05.25).

Tay Jones took sixth place in the long jump (18-03.25) while the 4×400-meter relay team was sixth in 4:26.

Reed was sixth in the 400-meter dash (58.97).

In addition to Piedmont, schools represented included George Walton, Briarwood, Gatewood, Fullington, Augusta Prep, John Hancock, Twiggs Academy and Trinity Christian School-Dublin
