Hurricane Soccer

The Jasper County High School team took on the number one team in the region, Social Circle, Tuesday night. The Canes came out on fire with a quick shot on goal by Travis Teran, followed up by Alex Bautista in the first five minutes of the game to give the Canes a quick lead.

The Canes held the Redskins until seventy-three minutes of regular play, where unfortunately Social Circle put one in the net to tie the game. The two teams then battled it out in the first 10-minute overtime, which remained scoreless.

The Canes and Redskins battled again in the second 10-minute overtime. In the last 38 seconds of the second overtime, the Redskins devastatingly sank one in the net to beat the Canes 2-1.

The Canes played a terrific game however, with multiple saves on goal by freshman and team leader, Ricardo Sanchez-Hernandez. Michael Abner received the the Player of the Game award for his fierce and aggressive play style in the midfield.

The defense for the Canes was solid and led by Julio Sanchez, Zion Blake, J.D. Williams, and Bryson Jackson. The Canes are coached by Ashley Clegg and Karen Hays.
