De’Ashley C. Thurman Seeks To Be Mayor

De’Ashley Crutchfield Thurman has qualified for the post of Mayor of Monticello. She has submitted the following announcement for the voters of Monticello to learn a little more about her:

I am excited to announce that I am running for the Mayor of Monticello. My emphasis is uniting our community to improve the quality of life for all its residents. My key goals include the following:

•Ensure that the needs of my constituency are effectively communicated, considered, and addressed.

•Strengthen city leadership to plan for the current business and population trends within the county.

•Protect valuable taxpayer dollars, provide funds for critical community projects, and ensure project implementation and accountability.

•Promote open, transparent decision making.

•Lead efforts to improve youth achievement and career readiness, beginning with quality early childhood education.

I gained business and management experience working in leadership and entrepreneurial positions, beginning with youth activities in church and community. I was the owner and operator of Miss Mae’s Babies Daycare and director in Mary Kay Cosmetics. I worked in operations for C.R. Bard for 10 years, building teamwork, customer service, time management and problem solving skills. I graduated from Jasper County High School and attended Dekalb Technical School in Covington.

I am supported in my mission by my family and strong, diverse campaign team. My husband is Willie Thurman III. We have three children: Kyriana, Korbin and Harmony. My parents are Clarence (Butch) Crutchfield and Carla (Renee) Hardeman. My godmother, Stacy Standifer continues to be a key mentor and advisor.
