Mat Cougars Finish Fourth At State

The Piedmont Academy wrestling team capped a memorable 2022-23 season with a fourth place overall finish at the GIAA state meet last weekend in Americus.

Placing at state for the Mat Cougars were:

•Jamus Wingate, state runner-up

•Colt Leddon, state runner-up

•Patrick Meadows, state runner-up (two-time state placer)

•Boone Pope, state runner-up (two-time state placer)

•Scott Swann, third place (three-time state placer)

•Michael Joseph, fourth (two-time state placer)

•Braxton Floyd, fifth

•Nick Nyman, fifth

•Trenton Jones, sixth

The ninth placers are the most in program history.
