Piedmont Boys Earn Victory
In what has been a tough season for the Piedmont Academy varsity boys basketball, there was a bright spot last week as the Cougars held on for a 53-50 win against visiting Lake Oconee Academy.
Led by a 16-point effort from Spencer Carter and a 15-point effort from Luke Welch, Piedmont held off a late rally attempt by LOA.
Elijah Dominguez contributed 9 points in the win while Chase Taylor scored 4 and Ridge Stroud, Corbett Crews and Gavin McCart each scored 3.
The Cougars held what seemed like a comfortable 32-15 halftime lead and continued to hold a 43-28 advantage after the third.
LOA went on a 22-10 run in the fourth quarter to pull within 3 points.
Piedmont (2-11 overall) fell to Loganville Christian Academy 48-33 on the road Friday before dropping a 48-33 contest to Windsor Academy.
The Lady Cougars (9-5) easily defeated Windsor 57-13 on Monday and Loganville Christian 68-58. The Lady Cougars fell to Lake Oconee Academy by a 59-17 score.
Standout Marissa Holder has returned to the lineup. She missed last week’s game against LOA as the Lady Cougars struggled offensively. Kylee Keck and Teagan Satterfield both scored 3 points in the game.
Piedmont will host Briarwood Academy on Friday with varsity games beginning at 6 p.m.
