Middle School Cougar Teams Earn Victories
Piedmont Academy’s Middle School basketball teams both earned impressive wins against visiting Central Fellowship on January 7.
The boys took a 47-24 win behind an 18-point performance by Kouper Burrell. Kohen Burrell and Joseph Standard both finished with 6 points.
Piedmont led 12-8 after the first quarter and 21-14 at halftime. Drew Dodd contributed 5 points in the victory.
Byrson Dudley, Isaac Lockett, Brayden Edge and Camden Moss all added 3 points in a balanced offensive attack.
Piedmont’s girls defeated Central Fellowship 35-13. Sarah Ellen Stroud scored a game-high 17 points and Taylor Jenkins added 10 points.
Abby Moore finished with 6 points and Graysen Cawthon scored 2.
The young Lady Cougars jumped out to a 10-2 lead after the first quarter and had moved in front by 19 points at halftime.
The middle school teams were to play at Central Georgia Arts & Athletics and host New Creation last week but weather prevented those events.
Piedmont’s fourth-fifth grade teams were scheduled to play Lake Oconee Academy last Wednesday.
