Contest Winner Gets 12 Right
It was a tough week for those playing The Monticello News annual football contest, with only one player correctly guessing the winner of as many as 12 games listed.
Roger Minter picked the winners of 12 games listed, with the next closest player only having 10 right, and many more with less than 10 right.
There were some upsets, and it’s just hard to pick, as on any given weekend, any team may win.
For his efforts, Mr. Minter won a $25 prize from Covington Ford in Covington, sponsor of the week. Mr. Minter asked his friend, Ben “Bear” Tripp who lives in Covington to pick up his prize for him, and Bear is pictured with Justin Dearro, salesman at the company.
Time is winding down with just two weeks left, and high school and college ball being pretty much over after this week except for upcoming bowl games. But this week offers eight college playoff games as well as seven pro contests.
All players need to predict who they think will win each of the 15 games listed, and write it on the official entry form found on page 7 or on a separate piece of paper and deliver to The News office no later than 5 p.m. tomorrow, Dec. 2.
Entries may be faxed to 706-468-6576, brought in person to 247 West Washington Street, or emailed to editor@themonticellonews.com.
Like each week, anyone who misses three or less games will get their names on the grand prize honor roll for four tickets to the Chick-fil-A/Peach Bowl in Atlanta on New Year’s Eve. And, whoever correctly guesses the most winners, subject to the tie-breaker, will win a $25 prize from MD HVAC, sponsor of the week.
Remember to get it in by 5 p.m,. and be sure to write legibly.
