Lyle Weber Wins Contest
All but a few of the football contest players this week made the honor roll, as the contest apparently was quite easy.
Nearly 100 names were added to the Honor Roll this week, with a dozen getting 14 right, and another 70 or so getting 12 or more right.
Lyle Weber was the lucky winner, collecting a $25 prize from Misty Cunard at Dairy Queen sponsor of the week. Mr. Weber correctly guessed the winner of 14 games listed in last week’s contest, and hit the tie-breaker score on the head. Sixty-two points were scored in Georgia’s 42-20 win over Florida.
Several people got 14 right, but were further off the tie-breaker. Many players were close, and thought they may have won.
This week, Georgia may have a tougher time with its opponent—Tennessee. And, it’s likely that the football contest players will have a tougher time this week.
But, one lucky person will get the most right, and win a $25 prize from Monticello Drugs, sponsor of the week. David Leach, proprietor, is a big Tennessee fan, and would be delighted to give the prize to a Georgia fan if the Volunteers can defeat the mighty Dawgs.
The game will air at a booth on the Square, over in the food court, for those who stay at the Deer Festival past the 3:30 p.m. kick-off.
And, just like every week, the contest features high school, college and pro football games. Players must guess the winners of the games, and whoever gets the most right, subject to the tiebreaker, will win. But, you must submit your entry no later than 5 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 4. Fax, email or bring it in person, but get it here by 5 p.m. tomorrow.
See the contest on page 8 for full details. Please write legibly. Good luck!
