Kevin Gaston Wins Contest

Kevin Gaston was one of 10 players to correctly guess the winners of as many as 11 games in last week’s football contest, and he guessed 49 points would be scored in Georgia’s 42-10 win over Auburn Saturday.

No other contest player guessed as close on the tiebreaker, and no one got more than 11 right. For his effort, Kevin won a $25 prize from Primary Care Center at Jasper Memorial Hospital. Since Kevin plays from afar, his dad, Joel, picked up his prize for him Monday from Robert Cumbie, hospital pharmacist.

The other players who got 11 right, and were further off on the tie breakers include Jontae’ Sands, who guessed 62 points would be scored; Jennifer Jordan McDonald, 31; Jan Lewis, 35; Cassiah Dearro, 37; Christion, 35; Steve Jordan, 42; Rocky Dukes, 37, and Hailey Moore, 30.

Most of the players missed at least a couple high school games, but several college and pro games also proved difficult. There was no one upset that affected the players ability to win; there were several tough ones.

Perhaps this week will not be as difficult. We’re about halfway through the season, so those interested in winning tickets to the Chick-fil-A/Peach Bowl need to step up your game. Each player who gets 12 or more right gets his or her name added to the grand prize honor roll to have chances at the grand prize.

Remember entries must be submitted no later than 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, in person, by fax or email. Entries received after 5 p.m. Friday, will not be judged.
