Ozburn McMurry Wins Contest

Ozburn McMurry correctly guessed the winner of 13 of the 15 games listed in The Monticello News football contest last week to win the football contest.

However he was unavailable to pick up his prize from last week’s sponsor, Piedmont Academy, and instead, his cousin, Jake Pope collected the prize from headmaster Clint Welch.

Ozburn also gets his name added to the Grand Prize Honor Roll, which all players who got 12 or more right do. Only six more made the honor roll this week. They include Jim Anderson, Tommy Davis. Kevin Gaston, Ed Hall, Jennifer McDonald, and Stephanie Pittman.

One lucky winner will receive four tickets to the Chick-fil-A/Peach Bowl which is scheduled for New Year’s Eve in Atlanta. Each time a player makes the honor roll, he gets another chance at the drawing. At the end of the season, all the names go in a hat, and one name is selected. That is the lucky winner!

So, if you are interested, or just want the $25 and bragging rights, all you have to do is turn to page 7 of today’s paper, complete the entry form, and submit it to The News office by 5 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 7 to be entered in this week’s contest. Or write your answers on a separate piece of paper, and submit that.

Entries may be submitted by fax, 706-468-6576, email, editor@themonticellonews.com, or in person at 247 W. Washington Street, about a half-block off the Square. This week’s winner will receive a prize from Primary Care Center at Jasper Memorial Hospital, sponsor of the week.

Entrants are encouraged to write legibly, and reminded that the entry must be received on time.
