Mrs. Ruby L.B. Boykin

A celebration of life for Mrs. Ruby L.B. Boykin was held Sunday, May 1, 2022 at St. James A.M.E. Church, 514 Funderburg Drive in Monticello.

Mrs. Ruby L. B. Boykin was born on May 16, 1930 to the late Luke Broddus and Ruby Ester Benton.

On April 24, 2022, her anniversary, Mrs. Ruby Boykin joined her late husband, James Boykin; sisters, Thelma Benton, Mary Frances B. Gilree, Alberta Benton and Lue Vance B. Davis; and her sons, Johnny L. Boykin and Prevatt Boykin in heaven. “To God be the Glory.”

Ruby L.B. Boykin joined St. James A.M.E. Church when she was 13 years old. She was faithful and active in the following church organizations, President of the Stewardess, a Steward, member of the Senior Choir, Usher Board and Women’s Missionary Society.

Mrs. Boykin was educated at Jasper County Training School. She worked the following jobs: Henderson Packing Plant, Washington Park Cafeteria, Monticello Shrimp Boat, Ed Lee Nix Cafe, and Jasper Memorial Hospital & Retreat. She retired from Georgia Pacific after 19 years in 1999.

Leaving to mourn her passing, but to cherish her memories are two sons and their wives, James (Alice) Boykin and Jerry (Ruth) Boykin; daughter, Nona Boykin Norris.10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
