Jennifer Proctor, Piedmont Clinic Is Business of the Year; Kim McMichael Is Top Citizen

The Monticello-Jasper County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors held the annual Chamber Membership Dinner at Charlie Elliot Wildlife Center Thursday evening.

This event was the largest membership dinner held with new and familiar faces in attendance. Attendees heard from Craig Dominey, from Georgia Film Department, Jasper County Commissioner Chair Bruce Henry and City of Monticello Mayor Gail Harrell.

The 2021 winners were also announced Thursday evening. Kim McMichael was named the Citizen of the Year and Piedmont Animal Hospital/Dr. Jennifer Proctor and staff were selected as Business of the Year.

Angela Walsh presented Dr. Proctor with her award. Multiple supporting letters were submitted of the dedication and commitment Dr. Proctor and staff show to Jasper County and surrounding counties. Each letter discussed the care everyone shows to each patient that is a part of Piedmont Animal Service. Dr. Proctor, Natalie Fuller and Shelby Alexander accepted the prestigious award.

Leah Campbell and Wayne Bales presented the Citizen of the Year award to Kim McMichael. Mrs. McMichael serves on multiple volunteer boards in the county. She plays a large role at Jasper County Food Bank to ensure citizens of the county are receiving much needed food. She takes food to shut ins on her days off as well.

Kim strives to work with volunteers to keep the food bank stocked during the holiday seasons for those in need. Kim McMichael accepted the award with many family members as well as co-workers in attendance.

Congratulations to all of the winners for 2021. Both Kim McMichael and Piedmont Animal Service serve important roles in Jasper County! The 2022 Citizen and Business of the Year applications will be posted in October. Nomination letters and nominations will be accepted through the end of December. Past winners of awards will vote for the new nominees.
