Diamond Canes Fall To Stratford Academy
Offensive output continues to be tough to produce for the Jasper County-Monticello High School baseball team.
The Canes fell to Stratford Academy 14-1 on March 2 and managed just one hit. Stratford scored three runs in the top of the first inning and added five more in the second.
The visiting Eagles pushed five more runs across in the fourth inning before one final run in the fifth.
Hunter Hays worked the first three innings for Jasper County-Monticello and recorded four strikeouts. Gabe Evans pitched 1.1 innings.
Two days later the Canes fell to Mount de Sales 11-1 in Macon. A 7-run third inning by the host Cavaliers proved to be too much to overcome for Jasper County-Monticello.
Tom Schilling pitched three innings while Gabe Evans worked two. Evans had two strikeouts.
The Diamond Canes began Tuesday’s home region contest against Southwest-Macon but the weather would not cooperate.
The team travels to Southwest-Macon on Friday for a rematch beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Canes then meet region foe Bleckley County on the road Tuesday, also at 5:30 p.m.
