Carol Eva Walton Clayton

Carol Eva Walton Clayton, age 92, passed away February 10,2022, at her residence in Monticello.

Carol Clayton was born in Three Forks, Montana to the late Benjamin Walton and Edith Ballard Walton. She attended Bible Institute of Los Angeles for one year.

Carol married the late Richard Leroy Clayton on July 2, 1950. Before his death in 2017, they were married for 67 years. In addition to his parents and husband, Richard, she was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Wayne Clayton in 2017.

Carol lived in Coquille, Oregon before moving to Monticello on June 15, 1972. She was a 50-year member of Monticello Baptist Church and taught Sunday School for over 60 years, having taught in Oregon and the Monticello Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, knitting, crocheting, sewing, watching the Braves, putting puzzles and puzzle books together.

She is survived by her daughters, Sandra (Russell) Cobb and Shirley (Jimmy) Wise of Monticello; grandchildren, Niki (Robert) Barber, Becky (Dennis) Moore, David (Tiffany) Lynch and Candace (Daniel) Funt; great- grandchildren, Roy (Mari) Barber, Noah Faubli, Luke Faubli, Ireland Moore, Ethan Lynch and Emily Lynch; sisters, Phyllis Brown, Joan Finley and Marylee (Earl) Wilson of Oregon; and numerous nieces and nephews of Oregon.

A graveside service will be held at noon, Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022, at Williams Payne Cemetery. Rev. David Artessa will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb.15, 2022, at Monticello Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Monticello Baptist Church, 334 W. Greene Street, Monticello, Ga. 31064.
