Shady Dale Council Is Sworn In
Shady Dale did not have an election in 2021, as only five people qualified for City Council, and the council consists of five persons. In addition, Larry Champion remains mayor, as he had no challenger.
Mr. Champion was sworn in by Probate Judge Andrea Brown, and he swore in the members of council last week. They include Justin Wyatt who was named Mayor Pro-tem, along with Alex McLendon, Larissa Ruark, Alice White, and Michael Russeau. Three of the council members are new to council—Ms. Ruark Ms. White and Mr. Wyatt. The council members were sworn in at City Hall last Thursday at the beginning of the first council meeting of the year.
Lyn McLaurin is Shady Dale City Clerk. City Hall can be reached by calling 706-468-1510. Unlike Shady Dale, Monticello had a city election last year and now a special election is set for March 15 to fill the vacancy at the Mayor Pro-tem position.
