Emily Elaine Daniell Clark
Emily Elaine Daniell Clark was born August 14, 1932 and died January 9, 2022.
Rarely in our lives does there come a person, the kind of person you never want to forget because of a single attribute among many other wonderful attributes, and that attribute is kindness. Elaine Daniell Clark, better known to many of us as Mother, Mama, Mom or Maw Maw of Shady Dale, went home to her Lord and Creator on the 9th day of January, 2022.
Elaine was that special person who shared kindness with everyone around her, making their lives better just by being touched by her. Few people have the ability to impress this kindness on those around them, even when their lives get difficult because of age.
She’s blessed others with her gifts since August 14, 1932 (age 89). She was the wife of 71 years to Merrill Lynn Clark Sr., always taking care of him with the patience of Job but keeping him in line when it was needed. She was a very loving mother who could make you stand down with just a look (lovingly known as the “Maw Maw look!”) to five children and their spouses, four of whom survive her: Merrill Lynn Clark, Jr. (deceased) and his wife Alisa Dale Clark (deceased); Daniell Randy Clark and his wife Denise Nunez Clark of Newnan; Kathie Clark Shemwell and her husband David Baxter Shemwell (Bubba) of Kennesaw; Patti Clark Dieterly of Lexington, S.C.; and Christy Clark Lischer and her husband, Alan Arthur Lischer III (Scooter) of Macon.
She was also a loving and fun Maw Maw to 12 grandchildren: Brad Crosswell and his wife Jennifer; Shannon Crosswell Wilson and her husband Shannon; Brandy Clark Scott and her husband LT; Wes Clark and his wife Mindy; Lauren Clark Bettis and her husband John; Mandy Shemwell Leary and her husband Kevin; Brett Shemwell and his wife Melissa; Stephen Dieterly; Michael Dieterly; Mark Dieterly; Nathan Lischer and his wife Andi; and Jacob Lischer.
As Maw Maw, she was always loving but could also keep them straight if need be. She is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, many of whom will never get to fully understand the wonder that is their Maw Maw.
As we say goodbye to this beloved and very kind wife, mother, Maw Maw, and friend to anyone, we can’t help but think that Solomon in Proverbs 31 was describing Elaine Clark; the angels are rejoicing to have her home.
