Roy Larry Jenkins
Roy Larry Jenkins passed away at the age of 74 on May 21, 2021 at Piedmont Newton Hospital in Covington.
Larry Jenkins was born and raised in Lithonia, and resided in Monticello, for the past 16 years.
His parents were the late Roy William Jenkins and Sara Ruth Shaw Jenkins.
Larry served in the U.S. Army in Okinawa as an aircraft mechanic during the 1960’s. Before retirement he worked for A&P Grocery chain for 33 years and for the Rockdale School system for 10 years.
When Larry wasn’t with his family, he was selling hot boiled peanuts and produce around Monticello and the Oconee areas. He was often addressed as “The Peanut Man.” He was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend to many and will be truly missed by all.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Betty Jane Mathis Jenkins of Monticello; sons, Mark (Tasha) Jenkins of Jackson and Kevin (Julie) Jenkins of Covington; grandchildren, Mark Jenkins, Jr., Dylan Jenkins, Emily Jenkins, Kelsey Long, Nathan Jenkins and Taylor Jenkins; three great-grandchildren; sister, Cathy Jenkins Ledford of Covington; and brothers, David Jenkins and Derrick Jenkins of Stockbridge.
The family suggests donations to the Humane Society of Morgan County 1170 Fairground Road, Madison, Georgia 30650.
Jordan Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
