Mrs. Angia Lee Rooks

A celebration of life for Mrs. Angia Lee Rooks, who died May 1, 2021, was held May 5 at St. John C.M.E. Church in Monticello. Rev. Ricky Hammond, pastor, officiated.

Mrs. Rooks was born on August 1, 1956 in Monticello to the parentage of Tommie Lee and Anna Byron. In her final days she was surrounded by family and friends who loved and cherished her dearly.

Angia was baptized at an early age and had a strong spiritual background. She was a faithful servant at St. John C.M.E. Church of Monticello. She was president of the Stewardess Board, member of St. John C.M.E. Choir, and a dedicated member of the Pastoral Aide Committee.

Angia was educated in the Jasper County, Monticello, school system. She was employed at American Woodmark Corporation in Jackson.

She met the love of her life, Willie “Bobby” Rooks at an early age, and through this union they had three daughters: Kation Smith-Watts, Althea Rooks and Andrea Rooks-Williams. Some of her favorite hobbies were cooking, growing flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Tommie Lee Rooks and Anna Byron, and a brother, Tommie Lee Rooks, Jr.

Angia Lee leaves many fun and loving memories with her husband, children, and grandchildren, who include husband, Willie “Bobby” Rooks; children, Kelvin Smith (Marlo), Kation Smith-Watts (Ezra); Althea Rooks (Chris) and Andrea Williams (John). Also, siblings, Bernice Stone (Paul), Christine Ross (Willie), Doris Rooks, Tony Rooks, Ricky Rooks and Michael Rooks; a dedicated mother-in-law, Margie Kate Rooks Malone; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Rooks, Ronald Rooks, Michael Rooks (Tomiko), and Gregg Rooks (Michelle); eight grandchildren, Carshuna Smith, Kaleel Smith, Casey Smith, Chantz Watts, Christopher Bostwick, Chasity Watts, Kristiana Bostwick, and Madison Williams. Also, a special niece, April Grier, and numerous other nieces and nephews, and countless other relatives and friends.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
