Raymond Gene Cannon
Raymond Gene Cannon of Monticello passed away April 11, 2021 after several years of declining health.
Raymond was born in Jonesboro on March 3, 1963. He was a family man who worked many years from dawn to dusk to provide for his wife and children. Raymond enjoyed a long marriage to his one true love, Sylvia for 41 years. He was a gentle giant who had a deep love for his family, the great outdoors and barbecuing on the grill.
Raymond or “PawPaw” as his grandbabies affectionately called him, was an avid fisherman with carp being his favored catch. He was also a sought after partner in the annual horse shoe tournament where he had several first place wins under his belt. Raymond never met a stranger and was well loved for his boisterous personality. He will be truly missed and always remembered by his family and friends as a wheeling dealing, limousine riding, jet flying son of a gun, WOOOO!!!!
Raymond was predeceased by his parents, William and Betty Cannon, his brother, John Cannon and son-in-law, Marcus Davis.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife Sylvia Cannon, four sisters and two brothers, Sara Collins, Will Cannon, Patsy Mann, David Cannon, Kathy Alexander and Sandra Nunley; a daughter, Amanda Davis, and sons, Troy Cannon and Chad (Megan) Cannon. Grandchildren include Austin and Wyatt Salembier, Deshaun Davis, Alissa, Cheyenne and T.J. Cannon and Haven and Jayce Cannon and great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Baylee Salembier, and Oliver Cannon.
A memorial service is not immediately planned. The family will notify loved ones in the future when a service is scheduled.
