DISTRACTED DRIVING

Britt Parris, 20, of Monticello was not seriously injured when he wrecked his 2007 Ford Ranger Sunday on Hillsboro Street in Monticello. Mr. Parris said he was distracted by his cell phone, when he was headed towards Monticello Sunday evening about 6 p.m. He looked away, and the right corner of his truck hit the utility pole, causing the vehicle to spin clockwise, then overturn. Mr. Parris was buckled in and his air bag deployed, preventing serious injury. He was transferred to a hospital. Mr. Parris was cited with distracted driving, according to the report from the Georgia State Patrol.
