Nellie Elizabeth Rogers Cargile
Nellie Elizabeth Rogers Cargile, age 95, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021, at The Retreat Nursing Home.
Nell Cargile was born in Ivinghoe, England to the late Arnott Charles Rogers and Maud Cox Rogers. She met and married the late Alvin William “Bill” Cargile and moved to Jasper County in 1946.
Nell was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church. She enjoyed walking, sewing, knitting and crocheting. Before retirement, she worked as a seamstress for the Monticello Manufacturing Plant for 40 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Cargile in 1998; and sons, baby boy, Alvin Delano Cargile in 1946, Gary Stephen Cargile in 2017 and Norman P. “Timmy” Cargile in 2018.
She is survived by her daughters-in-law, Roxie Cargile and Caren Cargile of Monticello; grandchildren, Sean (Jenna) Cargile, Julie (Butch) Cummings and Paul Cargile; great-grandchildren, Bethany (Clay) Watts, Ruby Brown, Tara (Erik) Woodworth, Stephen Cummings and Nathan Cargile; and great-great- grandchildren, Ione Woodworth and Cy Woodworth.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, March 15, 2021, at Williams Payne Cemetery. Pastor David Williams will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2 p.m., Monday, March 15, 2021, at Williams Payne Cemetery.
