Mary Ammons Braswell
A grave side service for Mary Ammons Braswell was held Saturday, Feb. 13, at Ammons Family Cemetery in Round Oak. Pastor Donnie R. Braswell, Sr., officiated.
Mrs. Mary Ammons Braswell was born December 19, 1945 to the parentage of the late Mitchell Ammons, Sr., and the late Rozell Griggs Ammons. She departed this life on February 8, 2021 at Coliseum Hospital in Macon.
Affectionately known as Mary Joe, she grew up and lived in Jones County most of her life. She was a product of the Jones County School System, having attended Bradley Wayside Elementary School and Maggie Califf High School. Mary Joe worked for several families in Jones County and was an exceptional caregiver to the sick and disabled. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed feeding her family members and friends. Mary Joe was a member of Restoration Christian Church Georgia where she served on the Usher Board. She was a faithful and dedicated member until her health began to fail.
Mary Jo was joined in holy matrimony to Earley E. Braswell. Together, they raised two sons, Dana and Troy, both of whom preceded her in death.
In addition to parents and sons, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Mitchell Ammons, Jr., Henry Ammons, Clara Estelle Risby, Willie Louise Carey, her stepson, Reginald Towles, and several inlaws.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Earley E. Braswell, grandchildren, Danielle (Anthony) West, Andrew Ammons and Macy Norman; great-granddaughter, Aaliyah West; siblings, Ludella (Joe) Tyus, Ellis (Tomasia) Ammons; daughter-in-law, Janet Ammons, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, inlaws and friends.
Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
