Grand Jury Convenes; Returns 15 True Bills
The Grand Jury for the February 2021 term were presented 15 indictments by District Attorney T. Wright Barksdale, III last week during Jasper Superior Court.
After reviewing each of the indictments the grand jury, composed of 22 jurors, true billed each count within the 15 presentments.
The cases true billed include:
•Nicholas Epps, Agarion Watson, and Atravion Strickland—each charged with eights counts including three counts of theft by taking, two counts possession of firearm during commission of a felony, burglary in the second degree, aggravated assault, and possession of firearm by first offender probationer.
•Clifford Braxley—six counts including fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a schedule II controlled substance, speeding, failure to maintain brake lights in good working condition, and failure to carry license.
•Syderrius Whidby—six counts including three counts of obstruction of an officer, interference with government property, criminal trespass, and disorderly conduct.
•Patricia Hinds — four counts including driving under the influence, endangering a child while driving under the influence, driving while license suspended, and failure to report accident.
•Kenneth Darnell James—three counts including smash and grab burglary, criminal damage to property in the second degree, and possession of cocaine.
•Tiljahsae Haynes—three counts including burglary in the first degree, criminal damage to property in the second degree, and possession of marijuana, less than an ounce.
•Terrence Simmons—three counts including theft by receiving stolen property, possession of marijuana, less than an ounce, and possession of firearm by convicted felon.
•Annette Driskell—three counts including aggravated assault, discharge of firearm on property of another, and discharge of gun near highway or street.
•Michael Young—two counts including aggravated assault and simple battery.
•Matthew Barber—two counts including aggravated assault and criminal damage to property in the second degree.
•Joshua Orr—two counts including aggravated stalking and harassing communications.
•Milton Jeffery—sale of methamphetamine.
•Leon Anderson—aggravated stalking.
•Marquaiz Telismat—burglary in the second degree.
•Stanley Delano Hash, Jr.—failure to register as sex offender.
