JCHS Boy’s Soccer Wins First Game of Season
Last Friday the Monticello Hurricanes traveled to Monroe to face off against the Monroe Area High School Hurricanes.
The boys played a solid t game after finishing the first half down 3-0. The Canes bounced back strong in the second half with one goal scored by Sammy Nunez, one goal scored by Jackson Tomlin, and two goals scored by Ethan Proctor along with two assists.
This was the Hurricanes first win of the season. After some crucial injuries two freshmen, J.D. Williams and Micheal Abner, stepped up to help fill the field in the end.
Coach LeSuer said “It was a good team win. We about lost our cool being down 3-0 early. But we have good senior leadership in Austin Link and our older kids never lost faith.’
“We came back to win two games last year so our seniors knew how to stay after it and battle. It’s a great lesson for our young kids. Now they know they can always come back. To watch young men battle through adversity and come out on top, that’s the greatest prize for a coach. I’ll take a win like that over a blowout any day.”
The Canes will travel to Social Circle today, Feb. 11 to face off against the Redskins.
