Foothills Charter School Open House Today
Jasper Foothills Charter High School will be hosting its public Open House today, Jan. 14.
Serving students in Jasper County entering 9th – 12th grade, classes will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 19.
Foothills Education Charter High School is a public charter school which offers students an opportunity to earn a diploma in a non-traditional setting, at a Georgia Department of Education approved school.
Modeled after the highly successful Mountain Education Charter High School, Foothills opened in August of 2015, serving students in Baldwin, Barrow, Clarke, Jackson, and Madison Counties and two state prisons (Arrendale and Burruss).
The charter high school now serves students in a total of 18 locations in the North-Middle Georgia region, having awarded over 1,000 high school diplomas, and since its Fall 2017 replication partnership for Coastal Plains Education Charter High School, they now have 14 campuses in South-East Georgia.
Opening their first campus in January 2021, Jasper Foothills will adopt the Mastery Learning model, currently utilized at all Foothills and Coastal Plains locations. This “cannot fail” approach features web-based instruction, in a “convenient, flexible, self-paced format.” Teachers and staff, such as guidance counselors, social workers and more, are available to support the students as they prepare for college and/or a career. Students seeking a contemporary learning environment are encouraged to enroll in the free institution.
From 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. today, Jan. 14, at Jasper County High School, families who are ready to explore a Foothills education are invited to obtain more information about the non-traditional charter school and its contemporary learning environment. Classes will officially begin the following Tuesday, Jan. 19 at 4 p.m.
